CIRD Hosts Expert Dialogue on “Countering the U.S. Trade War”
In the context of the United States announcing its so-called “reciprocal tariff”, concerns are growing over the potential risks and challenges it poses to the global trade system and world economy. How should China respond and counter these challenges? What unique role can the Hainan Free Trade Port play in accelerating its development as an important opening-up door in the new era, particularly in response to rising U.S. tariff pressures?
On the morning of April 15, China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD), in collaboration with the Hainan Reform and Development Research Foundation, hosted an expert dialogue titled “Countering the U.S. Trade War”. The event featured a focused discussion with Professor Chi Fulin, President of CIRD; Zhao Jinping, Vice President of China Association of Trade in Services; Kuang Xianming, Vice President of CIRD; and Guo Da, Vice President of the Hainan Institute for Free Trade Port Studies (HIFTPS). More than 150 participants attended the dialogue, including representatives from government departments, academic and research institutions, the financial sector, chambers of commerce, industry associations, and business schools.
