Professor Chi Fulin, President of CIRD, Attends Korea–China Special Morning Session
On the morning of June 10, 2025, Professor Chi Fulin, President of China Institute for Reform and Development (CIRD), was invited to attend “Korea–China Special Morning Session” hosted by NEAR (North East Asia Research) Foundation and delivered remarks during the discussion.
Professor Chi emphasized two key points. First, the current moment is a crucial period for strengthening China–Korea economic and trade cooperation. Efforts should be made to seize the opportunity presented by Korea’s new administration, enhance the level of bilateral free trade, and jointly promote regional economic development. Second, China and Korea should work to remove external disturbances, further open their markets, and actively advance people-to-people exchanges, particularly among youth. Recently, China has introduced a series of unilateral visa-free entry policies toward multiple countries. In this context, it is advisable to consider using the Hainan Free Trade Port as a pilot zone to expand access for Korean service sectors such as performance and cultural industries.
The meeting was joined by several Chinese and Korean participants of 2025 NEAR Korea–China–Japan Seoul Process. The CIRD delegation included Yang Rui, Executive President of CIRD and President of RCEP Research Institute; CIRD, Zhang Fei, Vice President of CIRD; Liang Hui, Secretary-General of CIRD–GRANDALL Center of FTP Law Studies; Wang Yuehong and Jin Ye, Assistant Researchers of RCEP Research Institute, CIRD.
